Nice -- What kind of gig is FanHouse? I know several bloggers write on their own blogs as well as Fan House. Do they pay you per article or some kind of salary? If you don't feel comfortable answering/don't want to/can't that's fine too.

Hey all. I signed up a few months ago with my new blog on the A's and Giants (baybridgebaseball.com), but now I've moved to AOL Fanhouse (mlb.fanhouse.com). I'll be writing about the entire major leagues, hopefully doing most of my work from the bal…

Unless the ads are horribly intrusive, I feel like readers are probably used to seeing that sort of thing on blogs and websites now. The idea of an ad-free page for those who donate is definitely an interesting idea, though. (Maybe you could run som…

Hey guys... Not sure how many people still check here but I wanted to get your thoughts on a couple things... First, how many of you take donations and have you had any success with that? Second, and building off the first question, has anyone th…

Welcome to Sports Bloggers

Welcome to the Sports Bloggers network on Ning. For quite some time I've (I'm Bill Ferris from Detroit Tigers Weblog) wanted a way to interact with other sports bloggers. After some discussion on Twitter, Tim Daloisio suggested Ning, and here we are.

This site is open to the public so perhaps you can gain some exposure for your site. But what I hope will be a valuable component will be the forums where we can exchange ideas. To contribute though you have to be a member. So if you're a sports blogger and would like to participate, please become a member.

Also, this is brand new and really could go in any direction. If there are things you'd like to see please let me know.

Team (multi-author) blogging

I'm in the process of making a move from doing my blog solo to doing a team blog with multiple authors. (I can't keep up the daily posting schedule anymore.) Does anyone out there have experience do…

Newsletter

Hello bloggers. I am thinking of adding a newsletter as kind of a complement to what I do at my blog, Take 75 North. My thinking is that I need to freshen things up for both myself and my readers, and I can get into the idea of a newsletter more than something like podcasts.

Does anybody have any experience with this sort of thing? I guess most importantly, does anybody have any advice on what to do, what not to do? I'm also interested in tying a revenue… Continue

The dreaded link exchange email

You've seen it before:

"Hey, I have a sports site xxxxx.com. I was thinking that maybe we could exchange links. It will really help with google rankings. If you want to link to my site use this text 'xxxxxxxxxxxx' and when if you let me know when you put the link up, just indicate how you would like to be linked to on my site."

I despise the emails and most get instantly deleted without a response.

I'm all for sharing information and promoting your blog through email, but this isn't th… Continue

Baseball Toaster pulls the plug

Somewhat sad news from the baseball blogosphere with the end of Baseball Toaster. It's sad that the toaster is going away, but happy news for a few of the writers. Alex Belth and Bronx Banter had already left for a bigger gig. Jon Weisman had been writing for CNNSI and is now moving his blog to the LA Times. So congrats to those guys.

But the Toaster has a long history, with many of the group the original members of All-Bas… Continue
